Self care, glowing skin- products of 2021

With sooo many new things on the market, it seems there is a new product daily, and with Instagram’s simple Swipe Up to buy feature my skincare drawer has gotten out of control! So what do you really need? Let’s break it down into 3 simple steps for your best glow ever.

Start off with a cleanser, this should always be your first priority, not only to remove dead skin cells but your products applied after will absorb much better. A light, simple cleanser will do the trick. PCA Skin and Indie Lee both have great, 5 star options. As your skin ages, a cleansing device such as PMD Clean Pro RQ is also a great addition to help aid in the removal of dead skin.

Step two, treat and prevent. Here’s where your skin type will depend on what you use. A daily Vitamin C serum and a retinol a few times a week is recommended as a base. I like to throw in a lactic acid 1-2 times a week, Sunday Riley Good Genes, to brighten skin and lighten dark spots. Azelaic acid a few times a week if I am noticing breakouts, The Ordinary has a great (and affordable!) option and Paula’s Choice Niaminacide for pore reduction.

Step three, moisturize and protect. I like to use Peter Thomas Roth’s Hylauronic Cloud Moisturizer in the AM and a gentle cream moisturizer at night after the above-mentioned steps. Don’t forget your SPF as your last step in your morning routine. My fave is Elta MD Daily SPF!

I would recommend a visit to your dermatologist to find your best routine and what works for you. Keep it as simple or complex as you’d like!

XOXO,
